BLURB:

Unwanted. A word eighteen-year-old Kaelyn Jefferies knows better than most. Given up at birth, she knows nothing of love. Now she navigates this world blind, worrying only about her present to survive. And sometimes when you’re the only guide you have, you don’t always do what’s best for yourself.

After another confrontation with her bully, Kaelyn flees to her hiding spot to be alone and nurse her wounds. Instead, she finds Julian Ean, the gorgeous twenty-four-year-old calculus teacher the other girls whisper about, nursing a few of his own. Until that moment, Mr. Ean was simply a man she passed in the halls. Afterwards, he is impossible to ignore … to forget.

Mr. Ean only wanted to help Kaelyn. Patch her up and show her she was worth so much more than she was giving herself. He didn’t mean to fall in love with a student. It’s wrong, he knows it, but he can’t help himself around her. Not when her pain feels like his.

Kaelyn didn’t mean to fall in love with a teacher. It’s wrong, she knows it, but after Mr. Ean shows her what a real smile feels like, there’s no going back after that …

Book one in the Teaching Love Series, comes a poignant coming-of-age novel showcasing the beauty of strength and the delicious lure of forbidden love by Shana Vanterpool.

MY REVIEW:

Under the Peaches is book #1 of the Teaching Love Series by @shanavauthor and will be released February 28th, 2017. ~ Just pre-order it. You won’t regret!

This is one of the best books I’ve ever read. It’s about love, survival and acceptance. Bear with me because this review will be all over the place. I’m feeling a high after reading this story.

Kaelyn’s reality hurts. Some things that she thinks and reveals made my heart squeeze tight. She is verbally and physically abused at school and has no one to run to, to lean on. Until she meets Mr. Ean.

Julian is one of the sweetest heros I’ve ever met. He is mature, honest and so loyal. I think that’s what I love about him the most. You can count on him, you can expect the truth from him.

Yes, he is a teacher. Yes, Kael is a student. But don’t get attached to this. Under the Peaches is not about the taboo or about breaking the rules… there are so much more about this story.

I didn’t cry while reading this book. I had a knot in my throat, but no tears came.

But, as soon as I finished the story the tears came full force.

I was a Kaelyn from age 12 through 18. I’ve been bullied. People made me feel less than I am. But just like Kaelyn, I found a Julian. And even though he didn’t know at the time, he made me whole. He made me look at myself and realize that I am worth it. I am wanted. That I am loved.

I am thankful. For my fiancé, for being my Julian. For @_bookish_affair_, for telling me to get this arc. And for @shanavauthor, for writing this story. It’s so much more than a teacher/student romance. It’s inspiring. It’s raw. It’s perfect. 💜

I want to read it again. Now! I miss Julian and Kael. I hope the review made sense. I have so much more to say.

I’m having a book hangover. #Help

P.S.: The phone call with Julian’s mother. #HolyShit

P.P.S.: Kaelyn and her parka. That’s true love. LOL
